Bulgaria invites tourists from around the world for its balneological and wellness spa programs. I have heard many times people saying about Bulgaria – the small country with great potential. This statement cannot be more truthful than when we are talking about its rich natural resources of healing mineral water. Bulgaria’s natural resources rank as the second best in the world after Iceland. In addition, there are healing muddy fields along the Black Sea coast, around the lakes next to the villages of Bania (Karlovo region), Baikal (Kustendil region), and Marikostinovo (Blagagoevgrad region).

In Bulgaria there are more than 600 mineral springs with different range of temperature and mineralization, varying between 20° C and 96° C. I would like to emphasize that most of the mineral springs are found across protected areas in the foothills of Balkan and Rodopi Mountains, Black Sea coast, along the streams of the rivers Strouma and Mesta. This is a great possibility you may combine your spa vacation with other forms of alternative tourism like eco tourism, rural tourism, and cultural tourism.
